Karl Franz Joseph Haringer

Karl Franz Joseph Haringer (also Karl Franz Josef Harringer ; Karel Harringer in Czech ; * 1686 in Vienna ; † March 12, 1734 in Olomouc ) was an Austrian baroque painter and fresco artist who mainly worked in Moravia .

Life

Little is known about Haringer's origins. Probably before 1715 he frescoed the vault in the church of St. Liborius in Jessenitz, Moravia with pictures from the life of the church patron. In 1716/17 he worked in the Maria-Schnee-Kirche in Olomouc . With this commission he created the fresco “Community of the Saints” and “Maria in Gloria” for the presbytery and the fresco “Story of Mary Snow” for the nave. In 1718/19 he stayed in Rome for study purposes. For the Dürnstein Abbey in 1722/23 he created the main altar painting and six side altar paintings ( two of which are no longer preserved ) as well as other paintings with apostles, prophets and other saints. As a foundation of the Johann Nepomuk Brotherhood, he created the main altar sheet for the parish church in Stein an der Donau in 1726 . In another commission for the Maria-Schnee-Kirche in Olomouc he created the altar leaves of hll in 1728. Josef, Aloisius (?) And Barbara as well as the Guardian Angel . For the monastery Hradisch he painted the altar paintings of the hll in 1733. Johannes Nepomuk and Johannes Sarkander .

Haringer's students included Thaddäus Supper and Johann Christoph Handke .
