Karl Friedrich Reiche

Karl Friedrich Reiche (Spanish: Carlos Federico Reiche ; born October 31, 1860 in Dresden , † February 26, 1929 in Munich ) was a German botanist and university professor in Chile and Mexico . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Reiche ".

Life

Reiche received his doctorate in Leipzig in 1885 with the degree Dr. phil. He was a corresponding member of the German Botanical Society .

Reiche was a professor in Mexico ; he also worked at the National Museum of Santiago de Chile . Reiche explored the flora of Mexico and Chile. For the work The Natural Plant Families by Adolf Engler and Carl Prantl in the 1st edition (1890–1897) he wrote articles on numerous plant families.

According to Reiche, the plant genera are Reichea Kausel (now Myrcianthes ) from the myrtle family , Reicheocactus Backeb. from the family of the cactus plants and Reicheella Pax from the family of the carnation plants .

Herbarium

Reiche was a freelancer at the Botanical State Collection , which is located in the administrative building of the Botanical Garden in Munich-Nymphenburg .
