Karl Georg Edmund von Alten-Linsingen

Carl von Alten (also: Karl Georg Edmund von Alten-Linsingen and Karl Georg Edmund Graf von Alten-Linsingen as well as Karl von Alten-Linsingen and Karl Graf von Alten-Linsingen ; * October 11, 1843 in Linden near Hanover ; † March 2 1916 ibid) was a Prussian chamberlain , major in the Landwehr cavalry in Hanover and a wing adjutant of Kaiser Wilhelm II.

Life

Carl von Alten took part in the battle of Langensalza on the side of the army of the Kingdom of Hanover during the war against Prussia in 1866 . After the annexation of Hanover by Prussia , he joined the Prussian Army .

After the war against France and the founding of the Empire , von Alten married Countess Maria Agnes Karoline Cäcilie, known as Mary, on August 28, 1872, daughter of the Hanoverian chamberlain and captain Adolphus von Linsingen . From the marriage the daughter Jutta Elisabeth Luise Auguste von Alten-Linsingen emerged in 1876, through whose marriage he later became the father-in-law of Lothar Freiherr Hugo von Spitzemberg (1868–1930).

In 1893 Karl von Alten, later also referred to as Baron , acquired the so-called "Elisabethhaus" at Hohen Strasse 7 in Linden from the daughters of the teacher Friedrich August Heine, in which von Alten had a waiting school and a nurses' station set up.

Shortly after the turn of the century, Carl von Alten was elevated to the rank of Count von Alten-Linsingen in Primogenitur by Kaiser Wilhelm II on January 10, 1901, and at the same time received the title of Prussian Chamberlain.

Until 1906 von Alten also served as a major in the Landwehr cavalry in Hanover. His last employment was as the emperor's wing adjutant .
