Karl Hans Albrecht (* 19th November 1919 in Trier ; † 27. May 1965 in Evendorf ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Life and work

Karl Hans Albrecht was born in Trier as the son of a police officer. Due to a transfer of his father, he grew up in Brandenburg an der Havel . After Albrecht's father after the seizure of power was eliminated by the Nazis in 1933 from the police, the family moved to Dillingen / Saar . After graduating from high school, he began studying at the Technical University of Darmstadt , which he graduated as a civil engineer. He then worked as an architect . After the Second World War he moved first to Wiesloch and then to Leimen , where he lived until his death. Albrecht was also an honorary member of the board of directors of Volksbank Leimen and Federal Chairman of the Association of German Builders . He died in a traffic accident in a construction site near Evendorf in the Lüneburg Heath .

Albrecht was married and had one daughter. The Karl-Hans-Albrecht-Haus , a student residence in Karlsruhe , was named after him, but has since been renamed.

politics

Albrecht joined the SPD in the immediate post-war period . Within the party, he was district chairman of the SPD in the Heidelberg district . There he was also a member of the district council. He was also a member of the Leimen municipal council . From 1960 until his death he was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament , which had previously elected him to the Federal Assembly in 1954. He was elected both in 1960 and 1964 through a second mandate in the Heidelberg-Land constituency. In the state parliament he mainly dealt with questions of the building industry. In a state parliament debate on April 22, 1961, for example, he rejected the plans of the then federal government to issue a freeze on building permits to dampen the economy for the SPD faction, because otherwise the state's housing program would be jeopardized.
