Karl Heinz Peifer

Karl Heinz Peifer (born August 30, 1937 ) is a German lawyer. From 1996 to 2002 he was Vice President of the Federal Labor Court .

Life

After Peifer had filed in 1957 graduated from high school, he studied until 1961 at the Universities of Würzburg , Bonn and Mainz law . In 1965, after completing his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz, he passed his second state examination. In 1965 he also obtained his doctorate with a dissertation on the subject of " The legal force of the recruitment decisions according to §§ 153 ff. StPO ".

From 1966 to the beginning of 1967 he worked as a judge and public prosecutor in the district of the Koblenz Regional Court before he was employed in the Ministry of Justice of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate until 1979. Among other things, he was a consultant for public service and collective bargaining law for several years . His last position there was Ministerialrat. Since 1976 he has been active as a representative of the public interest in administrative courts in Rhineland-Palatinate and at the Higher Administrative Court in Rhineland-Palatinate .

In 1979 Peifer became the presiding judge at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Labor Court and on June 28, 1984 judge at the Federal Labor Court. At first he belonged to the Third Senate, from 1986 to the Eighth Senate of the Federal Labor Court. At the Eighth Senate, he was primarily concerned with questions of liability and vacation law. In 1991 Peifer became chairman of the Sixth Senate. At the Sixth Senate he had significant influence on the highest court rulings on public service law, in particular on the different collective bargaining conditions in the former GDR and the old Federal Republic of Germany . In 1996 he became Vice President of the court until he left the service in 2002.

In addition to his work at the Federal Labor Court, he taught labor law at the University of Mainz .
