Karl Joseph Stephan Graf von Kaunitz – Rietberg (born December 26, 1715 , † March 31, 1737 in Rome ) was canon in Münster , Liège and Olomouc .

Life

Origin and family

Karl Joseph Stephan Graf von Kaunitz and Rietberg came from the old Bohemian noble family Kaunitz , from which numerous well-known personalities emerged. He was the son of the Moravian governor Maximilian Ulrich von Kaunitz (1679–1746) and his wife Maria Ernestina Francisca Countess von Rietberg . Through his marriage, the family came into the possession of the County of Rietberg and thus rose to the high nobility . His uncle Franz Karl was Bishop of Ljubljana in Slovenia. Karl Joseph's brother Wenzeslaus Anton (1711–1794) was an Austrian statesman , Reichshofrat and diplomat .

Act

Little is known about the short life of Karl Joseph. In 1733 he received the cathedral praise in Münster , which his brother Wenzeslaus Anton had renounced. He had previously received the benefice from his father for reasons of supply. Karl Joseph was both canon in Liège and Olomouc and auditor of the Roman Rota .
