Karl Julius Guyet

Karl Julius Guyet (born March 11, 1802 in Homburg vd Höhe , † April 8, 1861 in Jena , also Carl Julius Guyet ) was a German legal scholar , judge and university professor .

Life

Guyet, son of a French captain , attended the local grammar school in Heidelberg and then studied law from 1818 at the local university and at the University of Berlin . The doctorate followed in Heidelberg in 1823 and the habilitation there in the same year . He initially worked as a private lecturer at the university and was appointed associate professor in 1827 .

Guyet took in 1836 a reputation as a full professor and Oberappellationsgerichtsrat on to Jena, in 1843, he was appointed Privy Councilor . He was rector of the University of Jena in 1839, 1844 and 1853 . In 1856 he finally became full professor of the Faculty of Law and the chair of the jury.

The legal scholar Eduard Chambon was his son-in-law.
