Eduard Chambon
Eduard Egmund Joseph Chambon (born June 23, 1822 in Leipzig , † March 3, 1857 in Prague ) was a German law scholar and university professor .
Life
Chambon was the son of a Leipzig merchant . He moved to Hamburg with his parents in 1828 and then to Dresden . There he attended the Kreuzschule . After graduating from school, he went to Leipzig University to study law in 1840 . From there he first moved to the University of Berlin , where he studied with Friedrich Carl von Savigny and Georg Friedrich Puchta and met Rudolf von Jhering . He then moved to the University of Göttingen . There he was on 21 June 1844 to the doctor of law doctorate .
Chambon completed his habilitation in 1848 at the University of Jena . After a time as a private lecturer , he received a position as associate professor there in November 1850 . He was also an assessor at the Schöppenstuhl . With his two monographs he gained a far-reaching reputation in the field of modern civil law, which was developing at the time . 1853 of this call in accordance with its appeal to a full professor of Roman law at the University of Prague .
Chambon married the daughter of his former faculty colleague Karl Julius Guyet . He fell ill with typhus in mid-February 1857 and died shortly afterwards. His body was transported to Jena accompanied by professors and students from Prague University. He was buried there.
