Karl Kaufmann (painter)
Karl Kaufmann (* 1843 in Neuplachowitz, Austrian Silesia , † April 27, 1905 in Vienna ) was an Austrian landscape and architecture painter .
Life
Karl Kaufmann was a student at the Vienna Academy . His study trips to the north of Europe ( Norway ), Holland , Germany ( Franconia , Danzig , Koenigsberg ) and often to Italy ( Naples , Rome , Venice ) gave him the motifs for his numerous landscapes, including a striking number of views of Venice.
From 1900, Karl Kaufmann lived permanently in Vienna. He often signed his works using pseudonyms . Under various other names R. Benda , Byon , H. Carnier , W. Carnier , F. Gilbert , O. Halm , C. Charpentier , J. Holmstedt , Charles Marchand , R. Merkner , B. Lambert , E. Leutner , M. Heger , Hobart , L. van Howe / van Hove , R. Jäger , Laarsen , Lundberg , F. Marchant , J. Marchant , C. Poul , F. Rodek , J. Rollin, H. Rohr , Ch.Erkan, A. Lorenzo, Taupiac , P. Toretti , L. Voigt or K. Schwartz often use it.
Today the majority of the painter's pictures are in private hands.
