Karl Kling (born December 18, 1928 in Krumbach (Swabia) ) was a self-employed German civil engineer and politician of the CSU. He belonged to the Bavarian state parliament . Kling was founding president of the Bavarian Chamber of Engineers-Bau and president of the Allgäu-Swabian Music Association .

Life

Karl Kling was the third child of Karl (1890–1979) and Luise Kling (1903–1991) in Bahnhofstrasse 39, Krumbach (Swabia). From 1935 to 1939 he attended elementary school in Krumbach and then until 1943 the high school in Krumbach. At the age of 15, Karl Kling was drafted into the home flak as an air force helper and, as a youth, actively experienced the major attacks on Augsburg on 25/26. February 1944 and Memmingen on July 28 and 30, 1944. After that, at the end of May 1945, Kling became a prisoner of war near Landeck (Tyrol). When the prison train passed his home town of Krumbach, Kling jumped off and escaped.

After the war, Kling continued his schooling at the high school for boys (today: Dossenberger Gymnasium in Günzburg), and after he had skipped the 5th and 6th grades, passed his Abitur. Karl Kling then enrolled at the Technical University of Munich . During his civil engineering studies from 1948 to 1954, Kling not only attended his professional lectures, but also political lectures by Konrad Adenauer and Theodor Heuss .

In 1961 Karl Kling married Christl Munding. The Kling couple have three daughters: Antonie, Susanne and Margaret. Karl Kling lives in Krumbach (Swabia).

Civil engineer

After studying at the Technical University of Munich, which he obtained with the academic degree Dipl.-Ing. Univ. completed, Karl Kling opened an engineering office for construction in Krumbach on July 1, 1954. In 1969 and 1971, Kling founded a foundation institute and Kling Bohrtechnik GmbH. With the economic downturn in the construction industry in the mid-1970s, Kling decided to operate internationally with his company, Kling Consult. The company carried out orders in Libya , Iran , Saudi Arabia , Sudan , Venezuela , Iraq , Jordan and Korea . During this time, Karl Kling also worked as a guest lecturer at the technical universities in Munich and Innsbruck . Kling ran the Kling Consult Ingenieurgesellschaft für Bauwesen GmbH and the Kling Bohrtechnik GmbH with a total of almost 200 permanent employees until he sold both companies in 1990. Kling took an important step for the engineers in Bavaria with the establishment of the Bavarian Chamber of Engineers -Bau, which he led as President from 1991 to 2003. In addition, Kling joined the Federal Chamber of Engineers in 1995 as a board member and held the office of President in 1998 and 1999.

In 1955, Karl Kling joined the CSU and two years later founded the Junge Union in the Altlandkreis Krumbach . From 1958 to 1970 Kling was represented in the district assembly of Swabia. Karl Kling was elected to the city council of Krumbach from 1960 to 1996; in addition, he was second mayor from May 1, 1960 to March 22, 1964 and then as first mayor of the city of Krumbach until April 30, 1966. Kling was also involved in the district and between 1960 and 1992 was a district councilor in the district council of the old district of Krumbach (until June 30, 1972) and the district of Günzburg . In 1956 Karl Kling made his first musical appearance when he started the Krumbach minstrel and fanfare group with three other musicians. In the following year he was elected chairman of the Musikverein 1816 eV Krumbach. He held a post until 1979. As the first chairman, he organized the first Krumbacher Festival Week, a district festival and a national music festival, as well as partnerships with bands in Europe. In 1979 Karl Kling was appointed honorary member of the Krumbach 1816 eV music association.

On April 24, 1979, Karl Kling was elected to the head of the Allgäu-Swabian Music Association. Until 2003 he headed the ASM. He introduced a data processing system, expanded the Presidium by several employees and concluded special collective agreements with GEMA . He also integrated into the ASM, in addition to traditional brass music , ensemble play, big bands , minstrels and the alphorn . In addition to the honorary office of president at the ASM, Karl Kling was honorary president of the Bavarian Music Association (the predecessor of the Bavarian Brass Music Association ) from 1984 to 1987 and from 1993 to 1996. Finally, in 1988, Karl Kling founded the Swabian Youth Brass Orchestra, in which musicians from the ASM associations make music. During his time as musician and president of the ASM, he organized several regional music festivals, national music festivals, European music festivals, large ASM concerts and birthday serenades for Franz Josef Strauss and John Paul II. During his time as president (1979-2003) the number of members of the ASM almost doubled - It rose from 18838 to 34013. In addition, the Kling couple established the “Klingendes Schwaben” foundation in 1988, which promotes young musicians from the ASM.
