Karl Löbe

Karl Löbe (born June 4, 1911 in Berlin-Charlottenburg ; † February 24, 1993 in Bremen ) was a German lawyer and politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Humanities College in Halberstadt Lobe took a degree in law and political science at the Universities of Innsbruck , Vienna and Kiel on which he both law degree and in 1935 with the promotion of Dr. jur. finished. In 1938/39 and 1945/46 he worked in the port and economic administration of the Hanseatic City of Bremen , most recently in the role of a government councilor. In the meantime he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , was employed as an artillery officer and was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1945.

Löbe worked as a legal counsel for Weserschifffahrt, was initially managing director from 1947 and became chairman of the Weserbund in 1958 . In addition, he had been a member of the board of directors of Mittelweser AG in Hanover since 1952 . In these functions, he played a leading role in the economic development of the area from North Hesse to the mouth of the Weser, as well as in the canalization of the Central Weser and the expansion of the Mittelland Canal . Later he was managing director of Nordwest-Kanal GmbH and Fulda GmbH.

During his professional activity, Karl Löbe has published several books that deal with the topics of the Weser and shipping from a historical perspective.

Political party

Löbe joined the FDP in 1954 and had been chairman of the transport committee of the Liberals' regional executive committee in Bremen since 1955.

MP

Löbe was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1965 . He was drawn into parliament via the state list of the FDP Bremen.
