Karl Möller (politician)

Karl Möller (born March 25, 1919 in Quakenbrück ; † March 13, 1993 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Möller was born the son of a carpenter. After graduating from elementary school and attending the Artland grammar school in Quakenbrück, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and trained at a technical school in 1937/38. He then did military service and took part in the Second World War as a soldier from 1939 to 1945 , where he was taken prisoner in Norway, from which he was released in 1946.

After the end of the war, Möller continued his training at the technical college, passed the master craftsman's examination as a carpenter in 1948 and in 1950 took over the management of the family business that had existed since 1813. He later became a district master craftsman in Bersenbrück and a member of the board of the Association of State Guild Associations of Lower Saxony. Since 1970 he was President of the Lower Saxony General Association of Crafts. In 1980 he founded the Lower Saxony Craftsmen's Innovation Prize Foundation .

Political party

Möller joined the CDU in 1950, and in 1952 he was elected to the Quakenbrück city council.

MP

Möller was a member of the Bersenbrück district council . From 1955 to 1978 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament , where he was a member of the Committee on Economics and Transport.

Public offices

Möller was deputy mayor from 1953 to 1954 and served as mayor of Quakenbrück or mayor of the Artland community from 1968 to 1972 . On May 19, 1965, he was appointed as the successor to Carlo Graaff as Lower Saxony Minister for Economics and Transport in the government of Lower Saxony led by Prime Minister Georg Diederichs . After the formation of a single SPD government, he left the government on July 8, 1970 and was replaced as Minister of Economics by Helmut Greulich .
