Jörg Bode (born November 12, 1970 in Celle ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and has been a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament since 2003 . From October 2009 to February 2013 he was Lower Saxony's Minister for Economics, Labor and Transport . He has been deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group and its economic policy spokesman since 2013.

education and profession

After graduating from the Hölty-Gymnasium in Celle and completing military service , Bode completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Commerzbank . This was followed by further training as a corporate customer advisor. From 2000 until his election to the 15th Lower Saxony state parliament, he worked as a corporate customer advisor at Deutsche Bank in Hanover. In addition to his work as a member of the state parliament, he was managing director of Haacke Treuhand GmbH in Celle from March 2013 to September 2014.

Jörg Bode has been a member of the FDP since 1989. From 1996 to 2007 he was councilor of the Hambühren community . From 1991 to 2006 he was a member of the district council in the district of Celle and from 2001 to 2006 chairman of the finance committee there. In February 2003 he was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament. From 2005 to 2009 he was the parliamentary manager of the FDP parliamentary group in the state parliament, before he succeeded Philipp Rösler as chairman of the FDP parliamentary group on February 17, 2009 .

On October 28, 2009, Bode again succeeded Rösler, who was moving to the Federal Ministry of Health, as Lower Saxony's Minister of Economics, Labor and Transport. He held this office until February 2013. After the state elections on January 20, 2013 , he was also a member of the 17th Lower Saxony state parliament.

From June 30th to July 1st, 2010 he was Executive Minister-President of Lower Saxony for a few hours, as Christian Wulff had resigned from this office on the same day due to his election as Federal President . Although Wulff would have been obliged on the basis of Article 33, Paragraph 4 of the Lower Saxony Constitution to continue the official business of the Prime Minister despite his resignation, he asked Bode, who complied with the request, to take on this task until David McAllister was elected Wulff's successor by the state parliament has been.
