Winfrid Hedergott

Winfrid Hedergott (born June 1, 1919 in Bernau near Berlin , † October 24, 2002 in Northeim ) was a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Hedergott began studying law and political science at the University of Göttingen , which he broke off in 1937 in order to be able to join the armed forces . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as an officer . During the war he was used as a long-range reconnaissance aircraft (observer with over 300 enemy flights) and received several awards.

After the end of the war, Hedergott moved to West Germany and settled in Northeim in Lower Saxony. In the following years he worked as an interpreter, language teacher and employee as well as a consultant and planner for companies. In 1971 he had received a teaching position at the Technical University of Hanover (honorary professor) and had also been a member of the Lower Saxony State Court since 1983 .

Political party

Hedergott joined the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in Göttingen in 1946 and was one of the co-founders of the FDP at the federal level at the 1948 party congress in Heppenheim . From 1949 to 1957 he was deputy state chairman of the FDP Lower Saxony and from 1954 to 1957 and from 1966 to 1972 a member of the federal executive committee of the FDP .

Hedergott was from 1952 to 1986 council member of the city ​​of Northeim . He was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from May 6, 1951 to June 20, 1970 and from June 29, 1974 to January 16, 1978. Here he was first deputy chairman from 1955 to 1957 and from 1958 to 1970 and from 1974 to 1978 chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. From March 17 until the dissolution on October 5, 1958, he led the joint parliamentary group of GB / BHE and FDP. He was also from May 30, 1951 to May 5, 1955 secretary of the state parliament. From May 26, 1955 to June 5, 1967, he was Vice President of the State Parliament. He was also chairman of the electoral review committee from July 11, 1974 to January 31, 1978. The state parliament elected him in 1954 and 1959 as a member of the Federal Assembly .

Public offices

Hedergott was temporarily mayor or alderman of the city of Northeim. His special commitment was the planning of the Northeimer Seenplatte recreation area .
