Karl Müller (politician, 1903)

Karl Müller (born November 26, 1903 in Zell im Wiesental , † September 26, 1972 in Dresden ) was a German SED functionary and communist resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Müller, the son of a textile worker, did an apprenticeship as a weaver himself after attending elementary and trade school and was active in this profession or as a textile worker. From 1926 to 1931 he was initially a hairdresser, and from 1931 to 1936 he worked as a ladies' hairdresser in Stuttgart and Berlin . In 1925, Müller joined the KPD. At times he was a member of the Reich leadership of the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition Community Transport .

After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists in 1933, Müller worked illegally in the defense apparatus of the KPD district leadership in Berlin-Brandenburg. In November / December 1933 he was in “ protective custody ”. In June 1936, he was again detained and in the same year to seven years in prison convicted, he in Brandenburg prison spent. In 1943 he was called up to the Penal Battalion 999 , in 1944 he went over to the Greek People's Liberation Army ELAS . From 1945 to 1947 Müller was in Soviet captivity and attended the Antifa school in Noginsk in 1946/1947 .

In 1948 Müller returned to Germany and became a member of the SED. From 1948 to 1953 he worked in the central secretariat of the SED party executive committee and the SED central committee as well as head of the arbitration department at the party executive committee and, from 1949, head of the office of the central party control commission . After studying at the party college "Karl Marx" in 1953/1954, Müller was a member of the SED district leadership in Dresden from 1954 to 1972 . From 1954 to 1958 he was secretary for agitation and propaganda there . From 1958 he was editor of the Sächsische Zeitung , the organ of the SED district leadership, in Dresden.

Honors

In 1968 Müller was awarded the Labor Banner and three times the Patriotic Order of Merit.
