Karl Schnetzler

Karl Schnetzler (born November 20, 1846 in Rastatt ; † December 6, 1906 in Karlsruhe ) was Lord Mayor of Karlsruhe.

Schnetzler completed a law degree. In 1866 he became a member of the Teutonia Freiburg fraternity during his studies . After his exams, he entered the Baden state service in 1873. From May 10, 1875, he was mayor of Karlsruhe and from April 25, 1892 to December 6, 1906, mayor of the city. In the years 1895 and 1896 he was a member of the Baden Estates Assembly for the National Liberal Party. In 1905 he became a board member of the newly founded German Association of Cities.

One of the gargoyles of the Stephanienbrunnen in Karlsruhe is a portrait of Schnetzler.
