Karl von Arberg

Karl Anton Graf von Arberg and Valengin, Baron von Noirmont (* 1705 in Delmond , † February 5, 1768 in Brussels ) was an officer in the Imperial Army .

Life

Karl Arberg came from a Swiss family and was born in Delmond (Netherlands). He joined the Imperial Army at the age of 20 and served as an officer. In 1742 he founded in the Netherlands , the infantry regiment No. 55 for commencement of Maria Theresa . This regiment consisted of 3,000 men in 33 companies . Arberg became a colonel in the regiment.

In 1743 Arberg took part in the battle of Dettingen and was major general at the siege of Nieupont in 1745 . In the Seven Years' War he commanded a corps .

In 1757 Arberg was appointed field marshal lieutenant because of his services at the Battle of Breslau and received the Military Maria Theresa Order . Then he defended with a corps 1759 Francs against the invading Hessians and Hanoverians. After another deed in 1760, he was appointed Feldzeugmeister . Arberg died in Brussels in 1768.
