Karl von Czoernig-Czernhausen

Karl Czörnig , from 1852 Freiherr von Czoernig-Czernhausen (also Carl [ Freiherr ] von Czörnig , born May 5, 1804 in Tschernhausen in Bohemia , † October 5, 1889 in Görz ) was an Austrian civil servant and statistician.

Life

He was a son of the Tschernhausen burgrave Karl Czörnig. He made a special contribution to the expansion of Danube shipping and railways , was President of the Statistical Administrative Commission until 1865 and from 1852 to 1863 also of the Imperial and Royal Central Commission for the research and preservation of architectural monuments . From August 31, 1848 to May 7, 1849 he was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly (parliamentary group: Café Milani ). In 1852 Czörnig was given the title of Czernhausen to the baron class. Karl von Czoernig-Czernhausen was the grandfather of the cave explorer Walter von Czoernig-Czernhausen . He was an honorary citizen of three cities: Reichenberg , Friedland , Gorizia .
