Karsten Vilmar
Karsten Vilmar (born April 24, 1930 in Bremen ) is a German surgeon and professional politician.
Life
After attending the old grammar school and graduating from high school in Bremen in 1950 , Karsten Vilmar studied medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After the state examination and doctorate in 1955, he worked in several clinics in Bremen. From 1964 to 1996 he was Ltd. Senior physician at the trauma surgery clinic at the central hospital in Sankt-Jürgen-Strasse . Since 1968 he was initially a member of the delegates' assembly of the Bremen Medical Association , active in professional politics. From 1976 to 1996 he was President of the Medical Association Bremen and 1975-1978 Vice President and then to 1999 president of the German Medical Association and the German Medical . In addition, Vilmar was a member of and leading role in a number of other organizations. In 1998 the term “ socially acceptable premature death ”, coined by Karsten Vilmar, was chosen as the bad word of the year. The doctor's original intention was to criticize the federal government's austerity plans, but in the opinion of the jurors, irony and satire had turned into sheer cynicism. Vilmar is married and has two adult sons.
