Course of the Demjanka (Демьянка) in the north of the catchment area of the Irtysh |
The Demjanka ( Russian Демьянка ) is a 1160 km long right tributary of the Irtysh in Western Siberia ( Russia ).
course
The actual Demjanka arises in the marshes of the Wassjuganje in the southern central part of the West Siberian lowland from the several dozen kilometers long source rivers Southern Demjanka (Juschnjaja Demjanka) and Eastern Demjanka ( Vostochnaja Demjanka ; these with tributary Obere Demjanka , Werchnjaja Demjanka ). It continues to flow through strongly meandering, sparsely populated, flat taiga area in western to partially northern directions to its confluence with the Irtysh south of the village Demjanskoje on the right bank of the Irtysh . The Demjanka flows through the entire length of the Tyumen Oblast ; the source rivers arise in the far north of the Omsk Oblast .
Hydrography
The catchment area of the Demjanka covers 34,800 km². The mean monthly water flow is about 50 kilometers above the estuary 167 m³ / s (minimum in February with 24 m³ / s; maximum during the snowmelt in May with 725 m³ / s). Near the mouth, the river is almost 200 meters wide and over three meters deep. The most important tributaries are Keum from the right and Tegus , Urna , Imgyt and Bolshoi Kunjak from the left .
Infrastructure
In most of the river's catchment area, there is practically no transport infrastructure. Not far from the estuary, the R404 trunk road crosses the river , about 50 kilometers above the estuary, the Tyumen - Surgut - Novy Urengoy or - Nizhnevartovsk railway , the most important land connections to the oil and gas production areas of Western Siberia.
The Demjanka is navigable in the lower reaches of the railway line; Here is also the only independent place in the river, the village of the same name Demjanka , which was created in connection with the construction of the railway in the 1970s .
The lower course of the river is also crossed by several oil and gas pipelines as well as electrical overhead lines .
