The Wassjuganje is a swamp landscape in the West Siberian lowlands in Russia . It lies between the rivers Ob and Irtysh , is the headwaters of the eponymous river Wassyugan and its tributary Chishapka and merges into the Barabasteppe in the south .

In addition, the Ob tributaries Parbig , Parabel (with its source rivers Kjonga and Tschusik ) and Großer Jugan , the Irtysh tributaries Om , Tara , Ui and Demjanka as well as the Kargat, which flows south into the drainless basin of Lake Chany , have theirs in the Wassjuganje swamps Origin.

At the end of 2017, Russia placed 6,000 km² of the swamp under protection as sapovednik .
