course

The Om flows from the small lake Omskoje ("Om lake") in the southeast part of the Wassjugan swamps at a height of 144  m . The origin lies in the north of the Novosibirsk Oblast , whose territory it initially flows through in a west-southwest direction, not far from the border with Tomsk Oblast , about 160 km as the crow flies northwest of Novosibirsk . In the middle reaches the river the Omsk Oblast and flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the north of the Baraba steppe . Especially in the middle reaches meanders them strong and eventually flows into the named after the river metropolis Omsk in 69  m into the Irtysh. The cities of Kuibyshev and Kalachinsk lie on the middle course of the river .

The most important tributaries are two rivers called Itscha ( Ича ), once in the upper reaches , once in the middle reaches , as well as Kama ( Кама ) and Tartas ( Тартас ), all from the right.

Hydrography
