In the middle reaches the river the Omsk Oblast and flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the north of the Baraba steppe . Especially in the middle reaches meanders them strong and eventually flows into the named after the river metropolis Omsk in 69 m into the Irtysh. The cities of Kuibyshev and Kalachinsk lie on the middle course of the river .
