Location of the Ui (Уй) in the catchment area of the Irtysh

The Ui ( Russian Уй ) is a 387 km long right tributary of the Irtysh in the West Siberian lowlands ( Russia ).

It should not be confused with the left tributary of the same name, the Ui des Tobol , also in Western Siberia or in the Southern Urals .

course

The Ui rises at a height of about 130  m in the marshland Wassjuganje in the southern central part of the West Siberian lowlands, in the extreme northwest of the Novosibirsk Oblast . Initially, the Ui flows south, but soon reaches the Omsk Oblast , where it turns almost directly to the west. The Ui meanders strongly along its entire length and finally flows into the Irtysh near the village of Ust-Ui , about 25 kilometers northwest of the city of Tara .

Hydrography

The catchment area of the Ui covers 6920 km². The mean water flow (MQ) in the village of Baschenowo , located about 48 kilometers above the estuary, is 19.8 m³ / s (minimum in February 6.0 m³ / s, maximum during the snowmelt in May 78 m³ / s). The spring flood lasts from April to June.

Near the mouth, the Ui is a good 50 meters wide and over two meters deep; its flow velocity here is 0.4 m / s.

The Ui freezes from late October / early November to April / early May.

Infrastructure

The Ui is not navigable.

There are no cities on the Ui, but apart from the upper reaches along its entire course there are smaller villages, which are mostly connected by roads. The largest place is Sedelnikowo on the middle reaches with about 5000 inhabitants.
