The 1997/98 season was the sixth season of the Kazakh ice hockey professional league . Two clubs, which made up a total of four teams, took part in the competition. Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk secured the title of Kazakh Master for the sixth time . Ust-Kamenogorsk won the championship title for the sixth time in a row.

The four participants played in a single round, so that each team had three games. The team with the most points secured the championship in the end.

For a win in the regular playing time of 60 minutes, a team received two points, the losing opponent received nothing. In the event of a tie, each team received one point.
