The 2000/01 season was the ninth season of the Kazakh ice hockey professional league . Seven clubs took part in the competition. Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk secured the title of Kazakh Champion for the eighth time . Ust-Kamenogorsk repeated the title win of the previous year .

mode

The seven participants played in a quadruple round, so that each team had the number of 24 games. The team with the most points secured the championship in the end.

For a win in the regular playing time of 60 minutes, a team received two points, the losing opponent received nothing. In the event of a tie, each team received one point.

After the 24 rounds - Jessil Petropawlowsk and Gornjak Rudny only contested 22 - Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk confidently secured the championship title. The team won 22 of their 24 games and thus defended the title. Barys Astana was again runner-up , well ahead of ex-master HK ZSKA Temirtau . Jenbek Almaty , Jessil Petropavlovsk, Junost Karaganda and Gornjak Rudny were in the back seats .

Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk played in the course of the season - with both the first and second team - in parallel in the third-class Russian Pervaya League . In addition, Torpedo Ust-Kamenogorsk took part in the IIHF Continental Cup in the 2000/01 season and advanced to the second round for the first time.
