The Kasgraben , also Kasgrabenbach , is a brook in the 14th district of Penzing in Vienna . It is a left tributary of the Mauerbach .

course

The Kasgraben has a length of 2920 m with a height difference of 203 m. Its catchment area is 2.4 km².

The stream runs naturally through the woods and meadows of the Vienna Woods in the Hadersdorf district . It rises in the valley between Greutberg and Hochbruckenberg . Under the Mauerbachstrasse it flows through the Kasgrabengewölbe before it flows into the Mauerbach on the left.

There is no risk of flooding at the Kasgraben. In the event of a flood of the century , neither the infrastructure nor the resident population are affected.

The Kasgraben vault was built in 1992.

ecology

At the Kasgraben there are maple - ash forests and intensively used meadows. The brook serves as spawning water for fire salamanders ( Salamandra salamandra ), common frogs ( Rana temporaria ) and agile frogs ( Rana dalmatina ).
