The two skyscrapers Kastor and Pollux in Frankfurt am Main together form the Forum Frankfurt complex , but in fact they are separate buildings. The unequal twin towers were named after the Dioscuri of Greek mythology, Castor and Pollux .
The location at the Friedrich-Ebert-Anlage in the Gallus district , right next to the exhibition grounds with the landmark Messeturm , used to be the seat of the headquarters of the Deutsche Bundesbahn . The railway buildings were blown up in 1994, and the high-rise buildings were completed in 1997.
At 130 meters, the Pollux, named after the demigod , is the larger of the two towers and covers around 31,500 m² on 33 floors. Since the end of March 2017, the Zurich Group Germany has been the largest tenant of 17 of the 33 floors with the merger of its previous departments in Frankfurt, Wiesbaden and Oberursel.
Kastor , the mortal , on the other hand, measures 95 meters over 22 floors and offers 28,800 m² of office space. One of the tenants is the Consulate General of Malaysia .
The towers stand, separated by a small green area with a light sculpture by the Swiss artist Christian Herdeg, about 70 meters apart at Platz der Einheit.
The design comes from the New York architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates . The construction of the towers cost around 850 million marks .
The main owner of Pollux is an international joint venture of Schroders asset management. The owner of the Kastor is alstria office Prime Portfolio GmbH & Co KG (formerly Deutsche Office AG), 90.9% of which is owned by alstria office REIT-AG .
