Kathryn Helen "Katie" Class (born March 24, 1963 in Saint Paul , Minnesota ) is a former American speed skater .

Class was a member of the US national speed skating team from 1980 to 1988. In the first few years in particular, she was active on short-haul routes. So she took part in the Sprint World Championships in Helsinki and Trondheim in 1983 and 1984 . There she reached the ranks 31 and 12 in the all-around competition. Also in 1984 she competed at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo . Over 500 meters, Class took 10th place, over 1000 meters she was 17th. From 1986 to 1988 she took part in both sprint and all-around world championships. In the sprint all-around, she finished 17th ( 1986 in Karuizawa ), 7 ( 1987 in Québec ) and 11 ( 1988 in West Allis ). In the small four-way battle of the all-around world championship, Class reached positions 17 ( 1986 in The Hague ), 18 ( 1987 in West Allis) and 19 ( 1988 in Skien ). In addition, she took part in her second Winter Olympics in Calgary in 1988. In her starts over 500, 1000 and 1500 meters, she finished 12th, 8th and 13th.

In her career, Class started for the Midway Speedskating Club and won a world cup race in Lake Placid over 1500 meters in 1987 .

Class attended Morehead State University and worked for the US Speed ​​Skating Association as the executive director for 16 years. She later moved to Westlake , Ohio , where she coached the local club. She was also inducted into the US Speed ​​Skating Hall of Fame for her work .
