Katja Christ

Katja Christ (born August 1, 1972 in Basel ; legal resident in Binningen and Basel) is a Swiss lawyer and politician ( glp ). She has been a member of the Swiss National Council since 2019 .

Life

Katja Christ grew up in Oberwil . After studying law at the University of Basel and obtaining her bar exam , she worked in the health department of the canton of Basel-Stadt . She then worked for a number of years in the municipal administration of Riehen . She is currently working as a lawyer and partner at BALEX Advokatur & Notariat.

Christ is married and has two children. Her hobbies are tournament dance (Latin American dances) and show dance (Argentine tango).

Political career

Katja Christ has been a member of the Green Liberal Party of Basel-Stadt since 2012 and represented it from 2014 until her resignation in the Grand Council of Basel-Stadt . Since May 2016 she has been President of the Green Liberal Party of Basel-Stadt and a member of the board of Green Liberal Switzerland. From May 2018 to the end of 2019 she was a member of the residents 'council of the municipality of Riehen and was elected by the local residents' council to the council office, the business audit committee and the education and family committee.

On October 20, 2019 Katja Christian was elected to the National Council and was sworn in here on December 2 of 2019. She was elected to the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications (KVF) and the Business Audit Commission (GPK). On December 15, 2019, Christ announced her resignation from the Grand Council and the Residents' Council, as their meeting times sometimes take place at the same time as the National Council meetings. Sandra Bothe-Wenk moved up for Christ in the Grand Council.
