Katja Dieckow (born September 9, 1984 in Halle (Saale) ) is a German diver . She starts in jumping from the 1 m and 3 m board.
Katja Dieckow studied biology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and graduated in 2011 with a degree in biology . She starts for SV Halle . There she is trained by Horst Wels , former trainers of the athlete, who has been active since 1992, were Heinz Preuss and Werner Bänsch. At the German Championships in the hall in 2006, she was runner-up on both the 1 m and 3 m boards. At the outdoor championships of the year she won the title of the 3 m board as well as the runner-up title on the 1 m board and in synchronized jumping from the 3 m board. In 2007 she was runner-up in 3 m synchronous jumping as well as third place on the 3 m board, and outdoors she won the 3 m board title in synchronized jumping. In 2008 she won this title both indoors and outdoors. She won bronze indoors and silver outdoors. Dieckow has won a total of twelve titles at German championships so far.
Internationally, Dieckow started in 1998 for the first time at the Junior European Championships, where she was fourth from the one-meter board. In 1999 she became vice European champion in this competition. In 2001 she was able to win the title. In 2002 silver was added again. Dieckow also won silver in synchronized jumping from the three-meter board. At the Junior World Championships in 2003 she won bronze in synchronized jumping from the three-meter board. The best result at the FINA Grand Prix show jumping was two second places.
At the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne Dieckow reached seventh place, at the 2008 European Championships in Eindhoven she won silver from the 3 m board and bronze from the 1 m board. With her good performances of the year Dieckow qualified for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 , where she was 18th on the 3m board. At the 2009 European Championships in Turin , she and Nora Subschinski won silver in synchronized jumping from the 3 m board. At the 2011 European Championships in Turin, she and Uschi Freitag won the bronze medal in synchronized jumping from the 3 m board, and in the same year the duo came fifth at the World Championships .
