Katrin Hirtl-Stanggaßinger comes from Schönau am Königssee and starts for her home club. She started skiing at the age of three and competed in her first races two years later. After completing the Christophorus School in Berchtesgaden with secondary school leaving certificate , she completed an apprenticeship with the Federal Police .
Kandahar descent (2017)
At the age of 16 she started in FIS races for the first time . A little later, on February 16, 2015, she made her European Cup debut in the Super-G in Davos . The following winter she took part in the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer , where she first won the bronze medal in the combination. In the giant slalom she won the silver medal and only had to admit defeat to Swiss Mélanie Meillard , 0.06 seconds behind . In March she secured another silver medal in combination at the Junior World Championships in Sochi . At the end of the season, she was crowned German giant slalom champion for the first time on Feldberg . In the 2016/17 season she managed to score regularly in the European Cup and to classify in the extended top field. The Junior World Championship in Åre , however, did not go as desired with a 27th place in the Super-G as the best result.
Hirtl-Stanggaßinger made her World Cup debut on October 22nd, 2016 in the giant slalom in Sölden . She won her first World Cup points in Lake Louise in early December 2019 in the Super-G.
