Katrin Schumacher (pseudonym: Marie Reinhard; * 1974 in Lemgo ) is a German literary scholar, journalist and jury member for the Leipzig Book Fair Prize . Since 2016 she has been the editor-in-chief of the cross-media MDR department "Literature, Film, Stage".

Career

Schumacher was born in Lemgo in 1974 and studied German, journalism and art history in Bamberg , Antwerp and Hamburg . In her dissertation in literary studies at the University of Hamburg in 2005 she examined the motif of female revenants or phantoms in literature.

She has been writing literary reviews and features for radio since 1997 and has appeared as a presenter, for example for WDR , NDR , Radio Bremen or Deutschlandfunk . She also writes for ZEIT and other print media.

After completing her doctorate, she took on teaching assignments in Hamburg, Lüneburg , Halle and Magdeburg until 2015 .

In 2009 Schumacher became the literary editor of the MDR, where she was initially responsible for non-fiction at the MDR cultural radio Figaro. Since 2016 she has headed the “Literature, Film, Stage” department. She is also a member of the Buchzeit team on 3sat , the jury of the German Book Fair Prize and the Klopstock Prize for New Literature .

Schumacher lives in Halle (Saale).
