Kay Richert (born April 29, 1973 in Schleswig ) is a German politician of the Free Democratic Party (FDP) .

Career

After graduating from high school in 1992, Kai Richert completed his military service at the Bernstorf-Gymnasium Satrup . He studied pedagogy and international management at the University of Flensburg . After moving to the Federal University of Applied Sciences , he completed a degree in administrative management there in 2003 and then pursued a career as an inspector with the Bundeswehr and worked in the senior service of the Federal Defense Administration , including in Bonn , Kiel and Flensburg . Within the German Armed Forces, he performed tasks in personnel development, press and public relations work, as well as in the management of military equipment and properties for national defense. In addition, from 2012 Richert worked as a trainer at the Bundeswehr Education Center in Mannheim in the area of ​​communication and negotiation training for specialists and executives.

Kay Richert is Protestant, married and has a daughter and two sons.

Political career

Richert has been a member of the FDP Flensburg since 2003 and has been a member of the executive board since 2005. From 2011 to 2015 and again since 2019 he is chairman of the FDP Flensburg. He is also a member of the state board of the FDP Schleswig-Holstein. In 2010 and 2016 Richert was a candidate for the FDP in the election for mayor of the city of Flensburg. He achieved voting shares of 13.2% (2010) and 18.6% (2016). Since the local elections in 2013, Richert has been councilor of the city of Flensburg and chairman of the FDP council group.

In the state elections in Schleswig-Holstein in 2017, Kay Richert was able to enter the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein via the state list. He also ran for election in the Flensburg state electoral district, where he received 6.6% (2012) and 8.9% (2017) of the second vote.

Within the FDP parliamentary group he is the spokesman for economy, transport and labor market policy, as well as spokesman for matters of the national minorities in Schleswig-Holstein. He is the deputy chairman of the Economic Committee and heads the Joint Economic Working Group of the Kiel Jamaica Coalition .

Honorary positions

Richert is a member of several non-profit associations. Among other things, he does voluntary board work in the Heilandskapelle Weiche association - an association for the promotion of culture, encounters and urban development in Flensburg-Weiche e. V. as well as in the ADS-Grenzfriedensbund . Richert is organized in the union of civil servants and employees of the Bundeswehr under the umbrella of the DBB , until 2017 he was a member of the executive board of the local group Flensburg.
