Live and act

Kazelin was probably the son of Count Chadalhoch von Leoben and in Isengau and his wife Irmingard.

In the document for the inauguration of the Michaelbeuern monastery church in 1072, Chazile de Muosiza is named as Miles (knight, fiefdom holder , ministerial ) of Patriarch Sieghard von Aquileia .

Mosach / Moggio Monastery

In 1084/85 Count Kazelin gave the patriarch Friedrich von Aquileia , his brother-in-law, his property at Mosach ( Moggio Udinese ) in Friuli with the request to build a Benedictine monastery on it. Patriarch Friedrich had to lose his life as early as 1085, so his successor Ulrich von Eppenstein took over his task by building a Benedictine monastery and church in Mosach in 1119 and gifting it with the Count's allode. This also included 23 Mansen near Ober- and Untervellach, Mount Sarco and free float in Friuli, namely Marano, Mount Lanz, Fustriz, Adellario, Portis, Ingano and Belluno. Patriarch Ulrich also added his own goods of considerable size to the foundation. In 1119 the collegiate church was consecrated by Bishop Andreas von Cividale.

Eberndorf Monastery

Count Kazelin is also the originator of Eberndorf Monastery : In a document, 1106, Patriarch Ulrich confirms that Count Kazelin has transferred his entire estate with servants and rights to Aquileia, dedicated to canons who should work on his grave. According to the document, Count Kazelin was transferred from his previous grave site Göthelich / Gösseling in the Archdiocese of Salzburg , also a property of Kazelin, to his Allod Dobrendorf ( Eberndorf ) and buried in the Marienkirche. Furthermore, a larger church was built there and this was dedicated to the maintenance of the canons with the Gösseling and Eberndorf farms as well as other goods and rights. Count Werigand , Vogt von Gurk , and Wilhelm I. von Heunburg are among the lay witnesses to the document .

Note: Karlmann Tangl located the original Göthelich grave site in Göttling, Lang municipality , and the donation, the Gohtelich court , in Köttelach “in the Bleiburg Decanate below Schwabeck” (near Gutenstein ; Kotlje pri Ravnah).
