After the Second World War , he found himself with his family and other Poles who had emigrated from Bukovina in Prudnik in Upper Silesia, also a region where cultures and peoples mixed; this time dialectal Polish , German and Czech were spoken. In Prudnik Feleszko attended school and graduated from high school. He then started studying Serbo-Croatian at the Philological Faculty of the University of Warsaw , got to know and love a new multi-ethnic language area and expanded his language skills to include Serbo-Croatian, Macedonian and Bulgarian , which was then called . Feleszko spent most of his life in Warsaw, lived in Germany for a few years and also traveled a lot, especially to the Balkans and Bukovina.

The dissertation was published in 1970 by Ossolineum Verlag in Polish and again in Belgrade in 1995 in Serbian. In 1980 , Feleszko completed his habilitation with an investigation into the functions of the forms of the number category in the Polish nominal group (Polish Funkcje form kategorii liczby w polskiej grupie imiennej ). In 1979 he moved from the Academy of Sciences to the Institute of Slavic Philology at the University of Warsaw. From 1979 to 1992 and from 1997 to 2001 he worked there as a scientist and lecturer and at times as institute director. Feleszko's academic interest focused on the grammatical structure of the Slavic languages, especially in the context of the number and with reference to Polish and the South Slavic languages. He also dealt with contrastive linguistics and multilingualism in Bukovina. His scientific legacy includes well over 100 positions. For a time he was co-editor of the magazine Die Welt der Slaven .
