Keala Kennelly

Keala Kennelly (born August 13, 1978 in Kauai ) is an American professional surfer .

life and career

Kennelly grew up in Kauai, Hawaii. She learned to surf from her father. Kennelly grew up with Andy and Bruce Irons . She has been active as a professional surfer since 1995. In 2003 she was vice world champion for women . In 2005 she surfed the highest wave a woman tow-in surfing at Teahupoo . In 2011, Kennelly suffered severe facial injuries in a fall.

Kennelly has also appeared in multiple surf-related films such as Blue Crush , Step into Liquid, and the HBO series John from Cincinnati . In 2001 she was the subject of the documentary 7 Girls .
