Kearney (formerly: AT Kearney ) is an international management consultancy . The company was founded in Chicago in 1926 and today has 60 offices in over 40 countries. As an independent partnership with sales of USD 1.4 billion (2018) and over 3,600 employees, Kearney is one of the largest and most recognized strategic management consultancies worldwide.

With a median pay of $ 168,000, Kearney was the US highest-paying employer in 2016.

German-speaking area

The German subsidiary is AT Kearney GmbH and has offices in Berlin , Düsseldorf and Munich . In Austria, the company has an office in Vienna . In Switzerland, Kearney is based in Zurich .

In 2010, Kearney had 587 employees in Germany. In the same period, Kearney Germany achieved sales of 221 million euros, an improvement of 12.8 percent over the previous year.

As Managing Director Central Europe, Martin Eisenhut has headed the German-speaking area since 2016. The consulting focus is on the topics of growth, innovation , sustainability , strategic IT, complexity management and process optimization of global production and supply chains .

history

McKinsey & Company was founded in 1926 . Andrew Thomas Kearney joined the company in 1929 and became a managing partner in 1935. In 1939 it came to a separation, with McKinsey & Co. went to New York and Boston, while Kearney & Co. remained in Chicago.

In 1946 the company was renamed AT Kearney & Company. Tom Kearney retired in 1961 and died on January 11 of the following year.

The first international office was opened in Düsseldorf in 1964 . In the following four years offices were added in Milan , Paris , London, as well as San Francisco and New York . In 1972 the company finally became AT Kearney. In the same year, the first branch in Asia opened in Tokyo .

In 1995, the company was bought by the Texas IT service provider and outsourcing specialist Electronic Data Systems (EDS). In January 2006, AT Kearney became an independent company again as part of a management buy-out and celebrated its 80th anniversary.

A planned merger with the management consultancy Booz & Company was canceled in July 2010 after exploratory talks.

In 2019, AT Kearney took over the business analytics and data management consultancy Cervello. Cervello's key solutions include enterprise performance management, data management, business intelligence and CRM . At the time of the acquisition, Cervello had offices in Boston , Dallas , New York, London and Bengaluru .

In 2020, the company revised its marketing strategy and in the process changed its name from AT Kearney to Kearney.

Awards and recognitions

Kearney has been named "Best Firms to Work For" by Consulting magazine seven times in a row. Kearney is also one of the most prestigious consulting firms in the world according to the US Vault Guide ranking. Working Mother magazine named Kearney one of the "Best Companies to Work For Working Mothers and Dads" in 2019. In 2015, 2016 and 2017 Kearney received the "Excellence in Social & Community Investment" award from Consulting magazine. Kearney Germany was named “Top Employer Germany 2012” by the CRF Institute for the sixth time in a row and won the “Best of Consulting 2012” award from WirtschaftsWoche magazine in the strategy category. The consulting company is also known for its supportive and collegial work culture. The company has been recognized as one of the best employers for LGBT equality every year since 2015 .

Kearney is also known for its rigorous personnel selection process. In 2012, Kearney was ranked fourth among companies on the Glassdoor career platform with the toughest selection process.

Global Business Policy Council

The Global Business Policy Council was founded in 1992 by Paul Laudicina as part of AT Kearney. Membership is only possible by invitation. Members include leading academics, entrepreneurs, and government officials who meet annually for the CEO Retreat to discuss issues affecting the global business climate. The Council publishes research and analysis results on key economic and social policy issues every year.
