Keelin Winters (born December 9, 1988 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is a former American soccer player . She last played for Seattle Reign FC from 2013 to 2016 .

Career

society

The daughter of former NBA professional basketball player Brian Winters grew up in California and Colorado and played for the teams at Carondelet and Regis Jesuit High School . Between 2001 and 2007 Winters played for the junior teams Mustang Blast and Real Colorado . In 2007 she moved to the Portland Pilots , the team at the University of Portland . In the college league, Winters scored six goals in 83 games and was voted best player in the West Coast Conference in 2010. In addition to the Portland Pilots, Winters was active for Colorado Rush in the W-League between 2007 and 2009 .

2011, Keelin Winters of the Boston Breakers in the US professional league Women's Professional Soccer drafted . She was nominated for the Rookie of the Year award. For the 2012 season, Winters moved to the Seattle Sounders Women , before moving to the German Bundesliga club 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam on July 1, 2012 . For health reasons, however, the contract was terminated at the end of the year.

At the beginning of 2013 she was assigned to the Chicago Red Stars in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League , the highest American professional league in women's football, as part of the so-called player allocation . Before the first game of the season, however, she moved to league rivals Seattle Reign FC and made her debut there on April 14 in a 1-1 draw against Chicago. Winters scored her first goal in the NWSL on June 23, 2013 against Western New York Flash . At the end of 2014 and 2015 she switched to the Australian first division club Western Sydney Wanderers on loan for several months . With the Reign, Winters 2014 and 2015 won the NWSL-Shield as the best team of the regular season, but lost to FC Kansas City in the championship finals . She ended her career at the end of the 2016 season.

National team

Winters led her team as captain to win the title at the U-20 World Cup in Chile in 2008 and later also ran for the U-23 team of the United States. In January 2013, it was designed by Tom Sermanni first time in the squad of the senior team called, but came to no international duty.
