Keig is a hamlet in the Scottish council area of Aberdeenshire . It is located about 16 kilometers west of Inverurie on the left bank of the Don . To the west and east rise the chains of the Correen Hills and Bennachie, respectively .
history
With the stone circles Old Keig and Cothiemuir Wood , two monuments testify to the prehistoric settlement of the area. The hill fort The Barmkyn to the north-west is believed to have been Iron Age . This a short distance east location of Keig mansion Castle Forbes was in 1820 after a design Archibald Simpson built. The Bridge of Keig spanning the Don was completed in 1817.
In 1961 there were 66 inhabitants in Keig.
