William Kenneth "Ken" Richardson (born August 21, 1911 in Bourne , Lincolnshire , † June 27, 1997 ibid) was a British test and racing driver .

Motorsport

Richardson was the test driver for the V16 project of the British Formula 1 team BRM. For this racing team, he contested the qualification training for the Italian Grand Prix in 1951 in the BRM P15 . Although he qualified, he was not allowed to take part in the race because he did not have the appropriate racing license. He made no further attempts to participate in the Formula 1 World Championship.

In 1952, he developed the Triumph TS20 prototype into the Triumph TR2 for the British car manufacturer Triumph . In May 1953 he reached an average speed of 200.94 km / h with a near-series TR2 on the Jabbeke Motorway in Belgium. This was a world speed record for 2 liter engines.

Ken Richardson then became head of the Triumph factory motorsport team. He directed the use of the Triumph vehicles from 1954 to 1961 at Le Mans and in many rallies across Europe. He often took part in rallies as a driver or co-driver in works cars; for example at the Monte Carlo Rally , the Mille Miglia and the Coupe des Alpes . Richardson's successor as team principal was Graham Robson .
