Kenneth Ogbe (born November 16, 1994 in Munich ) is a German basketball player.

career

Ogbe, whose mother is German and whose father is Nigerian, played in the youth of TSV Unterhaching , the Franconian Witcher in Nuremberg and FC Bayern Munich . In 2010 he moved to the basketball boarding school at the Urspring School . In 2011 and 2013 he won the championship title in the youth basketball league with the U19 team . In the 2012/13 season he played 26 games for Erdgas Ehingen / Urspringschule in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In December 2012 he led the Urspring students to success with 24 points in the final of the "Arby's Classic" tournament in the US state of Tennessee .

Ogbe decided to combine competitive sports and studies in the United States . From 2013 to 2016 he did this at the University of Utah and was a teammate of the Austrian Jakob Pöltl , who went to the NBA in 2016 . In the 2015/16 season, Ogbe only played five games due to groin problems. Ogbe made the move within the NCAA to Utah Valley University following this season . In his last year of play at university level, the 2017/18 season, he was always in the starting line-up in 33 games and averaged 13.7 points per game, which was the highest team value in this statistical category.

In June 2018, Ogbe was signed by Bundesliga club Alba Berlin . With the capital city, he became German runner-up in 2018/19, Ogbe played 30 games in his first Bundesliga year and achieved an average of 3.9 per match. In February 2020 he won the German cup competition with Berlin, and the German championship was added at the end of June 2020. In the Bundesliga, Ogbe scored an average of 4.4 points per match in the championship year.

After two years in the capital, Ogbe joined Bundesliga competitor Brose Bamberg in summer 2020 .

National team

In 2013 and 2014, Ogbe played the U20 European Championship with the German junior national team. In 2015 he was appointed to the A2 national team for the first time.
