history

Church of St. Aegidius

The small clustered village with 251 inhabitants (as of July 2, 2012) was first mentioned in 1271 when Konrad II von Wildberg signed it on the occasion of the marriage of his wife Margareta von Henneberg . There are still several half-timbered houses in the village, including the schoolhouse from 1788, which was renovated in 1995. Various wayside shrines and gate stones are also worth seeing. Later, the place in the Lauringen office until 1803 belonged to the Hochstift Würzburg , to Bavaria (1803-1805), to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg (1805-1813) and from 1814/15 to Bavaria.

The rural Kerbfeld had a community-owned brewery until the post-war period. Some farmers still operate the schnapps distillery.

As early as 1317 there was a church in the village. The current Catholic parish church of St. Giles is a Baroque building from 1705, which was extended to the west in 1870. The choir with a ridge vault in the east tower was probably built between 1600 and 1613. Around 1705, the pulpit and the baroque high altar with four columns were built in. After that, the interior of the church was changed several times and adapted to current tastes.

On May 1, 1978, Kerbfeld was incorporated into the community of Aidhausen.

The hut festival is a special event, annually this is celebrated on a mountain slightly outside. Since several Kerbfelder built a hut there a few years ago, it is now a tradition to celebrate there every year.

There are also some good football players in Kerbfeld, most of whom show their skills at TSV Aidhausen.
