Kevin Kratz (born January 21, 1987 in Eschweiler ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with the US first division club Atlanta United . He occupies the position of a defensive midfielder .

Career

Kratz played in his youth for SCB Laurenzberg and Germania Dürwiß before moving to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1998 . Here he played from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2009 in the second team.

From July 1, 2009, Kratz played at Alemannia Aachen . At first he was only a replacement for Cristian Fiél , who had moved to Dynamo Dresden , but became a regular for the 2010/11 season. In February 2011, Kratz extended his expiring contract with Alemannia Aachen until June 2013, but after the relegation of Alemannia in the summer of 2012, he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig , where he signed a two-year contract until June 30, 2014. In the first round of the DFB Cup game against VfB Lübeck , he scored his first two goals for Eintracht. At the end of the 2012/13 season he was promoted to the Bundesliga with Braunschweig . In this he made his debut on August 10, 2013 (1st matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the home game against Werder Bremen . On the 2nd match day, on August 18, 2013, he scored his first Bundesliga goal with the connection hit with his head in the 89th minute in the 1: 2 defeat in the away game against Borussia Dortmund . After Eintracht Braunschweig's relegation to the second division, Kevin Kratz moved to SV Sandhausen . Due to a foot injury, however, he only made three short appearances for SVS in the first half of the season. In the second half of the season, Kratz became a regular player and played a significant role in SV Sandhausen's relegation.

In the summer of 2016, Kratz was left without a club. On September 15, 2016, he moved to the US Major League Soccer and joined the Philadelphia Union . On December 11th, the move to Atlanta United was announced. In his inaugural season 2017 he reached the 4th place with Atlanta and thus the playoffs. In the 2018 season he won the Atlanta MLS Cup . In the final victory over the Portland Timbers he was not used, but came on 27 missions and two goals during the season.
