Kgetlengrivier ( English Kgetlengrivier Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the district Bojanala Platinum in the South African province of Northwest . The seat of the municipality is Koster .

The local parish is named after the Afrikaans name for the river that flows through the parish.

The local government is run by the African National Congress . Mayor is Onnica Dipuo Kim Medupe.

In 2011 the community had 51,049 inhabitants. Of these, 80.1% were black, 16.8% white, 1.7% colored and 0.9 Indian or Asian.

The first language was 67.1% Setswana , 17.4% Afrikaans, 4.2% English, 1.4% isiZulu , 1.3% Sesotho , 1% isiXhosa , 0.9% isiNdebele and zu 0.6% each of Sepedi and Xitsonga .
