Kyjov (German Khaa ) is a district of Krásná Lípa in the Okres Děčín in the Czech Republic .

geography

The scattered settlement is located on the eastern edge of the Bohemian Switzerland in 361 meters above HN . The village, 3.5 km west of Krásná Lípa, is located on the upper reaches of the Kirnitzsch (Křinice) and in the valley of the flowing gold water (Sýrový potok). To the northeast between Kyjov and Dlouhý Důl ( Langengrund ) the Lusatian Fault crosses the Kirnitzschtal. The Kyjovské údolí ( Khaatal ), the deeply cut gorge of the Kirnitzsch, begins to the west of the village . Here a cycle path leads across the border to Hinterhermsdorf . In the east lies the village of Hely ( Nassendorf ) and in the south rises the 548 m high Vápenný vrch ( Maschkenberg ).

history

In a map by Georg Oeder from 1571, the field name In der Kawe is recorded for the first time . There was no settlement at that time. The first houses were built on the site of today's village after 1654. One of the first settlers in the Kawe was the weaver and herb collector Christoph Riedel, who settled here in 1660 and died in 1666.

Some mining attempts were made in the 17th and 18th centuries. The inhabitants lived mainly from logging and rafting, flax and cotton spinning and pasture farming. Numerous grinding and sawmills were operated along the Kirnitzsch and Goldwassers, of which the legendary Dixmühle was the best known. In the 19th century a thread factory was established and the number of inhabitants in Khaa, including the Kalkofen (Vápenka) district, grew to 500. From the middle of the 19th century, Khaa formed a municipality in the judicial district of Rumburg .

In 1884 the mountain association for the Khaathal was founded , which operated the tourist development of this scenic gem, created rock climbs and set up lookout points.

In 1977 the Sýrový potok was dammed and the 6 hectare Kyjovský rybník was created. There is a campsite at the dam. In 1991 the place had 22 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 47 houses in which 21 people lived.
