Kimiko Ito

Kimiko Itō ( Japanese 伊藤 君子 , Itō Kimiko , also: Kimiko Itoh ; born July 11, 1946 in Shōdoshima , Kagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz singer .

Live and act

Kimiko Itō first studied painting at the Musashino Art School , then with Yasushi Sawada. She began her career as a singer in the 1980s and worked a. a. with Terumasa Hino and Makoto Ozone . She has worked in both New York and Tokyo and performed in a duo with Makoto Ozone at the 1997 Montreux Jazz Festival ; the recording was released as an album. The Japanese Swing Journal named her the best singer in Japan in 2000. Itō performed with Aki Takase and Nobuyoshi Ino in 2012 as part of the Paris exhibition Jazz en Japon .

Follow Me , a cover of the second movement of Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez , was released in 2004 on the occasion of its use as the main subject of Mamoru Oshii's film Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence in a maxi-single version on VideoArt Music, the 63rd place of the Japanese single -Charts and stayed there for 7 weeks.
