Kinect Sports is a sports video game for the console Xbox 360 , which of Rare develops and 2010 by Microsoft was published. The game offers six sports simulations that can be operated via the Kinect accessories using free body movements. It was released at the same time as Kinect and is available for free on Xbox Live . The game has been sold over three million times, especially in Europe; a follow-up game has been announced for October 2011.

Gameplay

All games are controlled via a Kinect sensor. You don't have any controller in your hand, you control the character solely by imitating the respective discipline. In this way, a block can be formed in volleyball, for example, by the player jumping up.

In addition to 15 party play events, three additional mascots and 70 commercial successes, the game includes six of the following sports games:

  • Football : Football can be played alone against a computer-controlled team, in pairs (with or against each other) or as one of many challenges.
  • Bowling : This game is played in a first person view and includes single player , 2-4 player competitive modes and a selection of challenges.
  • Athletics : divided into sprint , javelin , long jump , discus throw and hurdles
  • Boxing : Boxing includes a three-round match for one or two players, locally via split screen or online via Xbox Live.
  • Volleyball : The game modes offered here are the same as those of football.
  • Table tennis : One or two players can play solo or double games against the computer or against each other. A challenge mode is also offered here.

The game received consistently positive reviews. IGN gave the game 8/10, GameSpot gave it a 7.5 / 10, and X-Play gave it a 4/5.
