Kirchbach belongs to the Austrian municipality of Peilstein and is located in the northern Mühlviertel , close to the Bavarian and Czech borders. The place is its own cadastral community within Peilstein. The next town is the district capital Rohrbach .
Kirchbach im Mühlviertel is a village with approx. 155 inhabitants. The village itself is 700 m above sea level. In Kirchbach there is also the Hauer estate, the highest farmhouse at 800 m. The local mountain is the Hochbühel with 877 m. The village has its own volunteer fire department . There is also the sociable pipe club with over 70 members. In addition, savings association, mother group and Kirchbacher choir should be mentioned.
