The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Natendorf is in Natendorf in the Lower Saxony district of Uelzen . The church with the striking roof dome of the west tower characterizes the townscape of Natendorf.

location

The church is located on the western edge of Natendorf. To the north is the associated cemetery, which is divided into two sections by a road. The Natendorfer Bach runs a few hundred meters to the east . The church is bordered to the south by trees.

architecture

The building is divided into a nave , which was built between 1789 and 1791, and a west tower built in 1905 . The rectangular hall church made of bricks rests on a foundation made of field stones . The long sides each contain three arched window fields. The east end of the church was originally flat and was probably provided with the polygonal sacristy in the 19th century . The ground floor of the church tower with buttresses placed across corners is formed by field stones. An ox-eye is located above the arched portal in the west, which is surrounded by field stones . The upper floors of the tower are made of brick and have round-arched sound openings of the bell chamber between corner pilasters . The tower clock of the west tower is attached under the sound openings. On the other sides of the tower, the tower clocks are attached directly in the area of the sound openings. The tower is crowned by a curved dome with dormers on all sides . To the north of the tower is a polygonal stair tower made of bricks.

Furnishing

The wooden altarpiece in neo -Gothic style is on loan from Wieren . In the hall church hangs a magnificent Swedish chandelier, which was made in the 19th century. After extensive interior renovation, a ceiling painting was uncovered in 2008 that depicts a larger sun.

Martin Gotta the Elder made a painting in the church with his son.

The organ of the organ builder Eduard Meyer is located on the gallery above the main entrance and was purchased in 1866. The tower clock from 1905 is driven by a Weule clockwork from Bockenem and has to be wound by hand every week.
