The Groß Bisdorf church is a church building in the Groß Bisdorf district of the Süderholz community in Western Pomerania .

The components of the church are covered with limestone slurry. The three-aisled brick hall consists of three bays and dates from the 14th century. The retracted, two-bay, rectangular choir was built from field stone in the second half of the 13th century . The north sacristy is also made of field stone and dates from the 14th century. The square west tower has an upper floor made of brick built on a field stone substructure.

The clockwork on the tower was renewed in the mid-1990s.

The choir and sacristy are provided with ribbed vaults. The ceiling of the central nave is designed as a wooden shallow barrel, the painting dates from 1723. The side aisles have sloping board ceilings from the same period.

Furnishing

The church houses a baroque altarpiece and a pulpit with a sound cover , both from the mid-17th century. The crucifix dates from the 15th century.

organ

The organ was made by Friedrich Albert Mehmel in 1889 ; it was restored in 1995/1996. The instrument has 10 stops on two manuals and a pedal .

Peal

There are two bells in the tower, the older of which was made by Gottlieb Metzler from Stralsund in 1773 . The second bell dates from 1926 and is made of bronze .

local community

The Protestant parish has been part of the Stralsund Propstei in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Demmin parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
